Wood Fired Honey Celadon Soap Dispenser
People with good sense often wonder why some of us (the other kind of people) would choose to submit six months (or more) of our work to something as primitive and temperamental as a wood kiln. The answer almost always lies in the pots that survive and come out of the kiln on the other side. Every once in a while, you are rewarded with something unexpected and almost surreal, like this bottle. In case you think that I need a photographer who can focus the camera, I assure you that the photo is a reasonably accurate representation. The glaze has a milky quality that reminds me of moonlight reflected in water on a cold night. In person, there is something about this little bottle that makes you want to see how far you can reach into the glaze. This one looks nice as a soap dispenser, but it would be equally at home in your “Art Niche”. Approximately six inches tall plus the pump height.
